PPP 601 - Brief 1 - Greek festival food Co - research and development

This breif originated from something that might actually happen, it is potentially a live brief so I need to think about it in a different way. The brief is to design and brand a Greek food stall to be used in festivals over England. To brand a food stall at a festival is quite hard considering the amount of food stalls that already exist. The stall needs to stand out from the crowd in branding and also in food.
I have been too many festivals and I have experienced first hand how competitive the market is, there are hundreds of stalls all next to each other competing for business. The main factor I think for going to a place is generally price this is then followed by what you fancy to eat. I feel also there aren't enough healthy options available, this is especially important at a festival because you really do start to feel the effects towards the end of the week.

At a festival the design of a stall needs to be designed in a certain manner, it needs to be eye catching but the design needs to be very typical of what its selling. In the case the fact that its selling greek food really needs to be shown by the sign, something that needs to be recognised by passing customers instantly.

These are typical examples of food stalls you would find at festivals over England, the designs are simple and effective that basically say exactly what they do. Along with the name they with generally have what they sell on the sign. The most successful stalls generally are the ones with the most unique products or the ones with the best prices.

I have been to Greece quite a few times and whats good about creating a food stall is that it has a very strong identity in image and in cuisine. The classic Greek colour scheme is easily recognisable and the food is also simple and universally liked.

These are some images that show the classic blue and white seen all around Greece, for the stall this would be an obvious design decision.
In my notes I started to go through names for the stall. Many Greek tavernas generally have a family name attached too them, others take names from Greek mythology and also Greek monuments.

The name in this case isn't in this case that important it just needs to be recognisable with the brand, I looked into greek mythology and found that the Greek god of corn and grain which is the closest to food. The name of the goddess is Demeter which I think could work well as a name.
